4th of July Weekend

As usual I am WAY late on this (and as usual, I am starting out a post with an apology), but here are some highlights from our annual family 4th of July party.

I repeated the balloon garland that we did for Vera’s birthday party last year. I think it adds a fun sense of occasion!

To encourage participation in games, Nicki, Mike, and Jason thought up and created this MVP belt, to be awarded to the person who brings the most to the day.

Mike forgot the “kid wash” accessories, but it was still quite a success.

We kicked off the games with “squeeze it.”

Buford Polo

Sack race

We also had a three legged race and an old vs. young tug of war, which I am sad to say, the young folks lost. I don’t know what happened…here’s a pic of when it all fell apart:

Then we had a belly bust contest. Here’s Wes:

First annual whiffle ball game.

Uncle Bob (the eldest Hebert) was the first MVP. He definitely earned it!

I am not sure there is a caption worthy of this pic. I’ll just let it speak for itself. Nice moves, Alex and Jessica!

Mrs. Sarahann and Vera dancing at the fireworks festival.

Part two!

Ready for fireworks!

I’m thrilled that Vera likes fireworks as much as I do!

Finale

Grits and hogshead cheese draws a crowd!
